UPDATE: We received 1st runner up! Which is bananas, considering we easily had zero budget compared to our competition. The Who's Tommy at The Goodman won so...a teensy tiny indie show as runner up?! Wild.
Last fall I had the absolute pleasure of being cast in Rich People in Space: An Anti-Capitalist Musical. Not only did our little indie musical perform to non-stop sold-out houses, but now we're nominated for Best Musical in Chicago Reader's Best of 2023!
Best Musical is listed in the Arts & Culture section and all Chicago or Chicagoland residents can vote, but hurry, voting ends 1/14/24!
About the show:
Rich People in Space: An Anti-Capitalist Musical, by Jake Dewar, explores the façade of workplace culture, resisting vs. complying, and the many ways money can corrupt us all. In the not-too-distant future, as the Earth's resources decline, billionaire Maxwell Pedestal has funded a new project to colonize Mars. Unfortunately, the only ones who can afford to go are the wealthy elite, and a new employee discovers this space station may not be what it seems.
